Hechi

Being located in the northwest of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, Hechi Prefecture has 11 counties and cities as Hechi, Yizhou, Luocheng Molao Autonomous County, Huanjiang Maonan Autonomous County, Nandan, Tiandeng, Donglan, Bama Yaozu Autonomous county, Fengshan, Du'an Yao Autonomous County and Dahua Yaozu Autonomous County, totally 33,450 square kilometers and has population of 3,724 million.

 
Hechi Prefecture is world famous for its rich non-ferrous metal resources. There are 43 types of ores which have already been prospected, distributing as widespread as 11 counties and cities. The conservative reserve of indium is the largest in the world. However, the reserve of tin is almost 1/3 of the total reserve in China. The reserve of antimony also takes the second place all over China. The only anthracite field in Guangxi is Hongmao Mine. Fengshanya Gold Mine is the richest gold resource in Guangxi.
 
Since Hechi Prefecture lies at the marginal area of Yungui Highland, it contains great waterpower resources, which is supposed to supply 840kilowatts.Hydroelestric development has been carried out step by step in Hongshui River, Qingshui River, Kongxiaojiang, Diao River and Longjiang River, 76 different scale of hydropower station such as Duhua, Yantan and Bailong have been set up with a toral installed capacity of 5.4 million kilowatts.
 
Hechi Prefecture has forest area of 1463 million hectares, being rich in mush pig, musk beef, black goat, chestnut, tea oil and sugarcane; it has great potential for the development of farm products and by-products.
 
Hechi Prefecture lies in the subtropical zone, enjoying a pleasant climate and abundant rainfall. The beautiful mountains and rivers, the peculiar caves and extraordinary sight, all these make people feel like staying in a wonderland.
 
Hechi Prefecture is also the main passage to the sea for southwester China, Qiangui Railway crosses through 5 counties and cities. Highway from Yizhou to Hechi has been almost finished; highways from Yizhou, from Nandan Liuzhai to Hechi to Nanning have also been in process.

In its area of 251 square kilometers, there're more than 5000 peaks about 800-1000 meters high and more than 1300 deep washes (It is called 'Nong" in Yao's dialect.). Yao's stockade villages and wood houses of primitive simplicity, star-studded in 324 deep washes. The washes in this area are the biggest, steepest and deepest in the word. the Doulin and sloped valleys here are also infrequent in any other places around the world. The spectacular karst topography here attracts your eyes by its integrated stalactite peaks standing upright in the washes. They are oddity in shape, bizarre in construction. The karst topography also results in the complex structures of the underground rivers and caves. Seven Hundred Nong and its surrounding area can be listed as the World Natural Heritage as it is the most typical region of karst peaks and washes. Here is the generational habitant of Bulu Yao, the second branch of Yao minority. The human environment is unique and full of special atmosphere. Therefore, this region is suitable for scientific research and education. Besides, it is a great place for exploration, painting and traveling. When you get to the road 800 meters above sea level, you will see thousands of mountains towering into the skies and find yourself in a dramatic place.
