Xing'an County
Ling Canal
Situated in north of Xing' an County, the 34km Ling Canal is 58 kilometers far from Guilin. The construction work had last 5 years before 214B.C. The experts who came to China for International Large Dam Conference in 1999 considered the canal as one of the wonders of all ancient water conservancy projects. The canal with people’s wisdom and large effort had been once an important means of transports serving the region for long time before railways and roads were constructed. Even earlier the Emperor of Qin Dynasty had his 500,000 soldiers transferred down to south through the Canal to conquer. Nowadays it still serves for purposes of irrigating about 2700 hectare of agricultural land. This canal connects the Xiang River of Hunan Province with the Gui River of Guangxi. The first flows northward toward the Yangtze River and the latter southward toward the China Sea.
Qin’s Village
Located at the origin of the Xiang River, Qin’s Village is 19km from Xing’an County. The people now living at the village are the following generations of a Tang Dynasty general. In the end of Tang Dynasty they came here from Shandong Province and there have been 40 generations. Surrounded by the unique green hills, the Qin’s village is endowed with picturesque scenery, streams, ancient bridges and Gingko trees, traditional Ming and Qing Dynasty walls, old fire, flooding systems. Come and you will be able to get a full understanding of northern Guilinese and atmosphere of ancient prosperity.
Merry-land Theme Park
The park covers 90 hectare, which is the biggest investment of Merry-land first project. There are five sections of this theme park, Merry Town, American western, Dream world, Pirate village, South Pacific Area and Forest area. All the dress, food, sights, shows and entertainment facilities of a section are going with its own theme. It gives different backgrounds when you play in the park as if you are entering a time tunnel. Just enjoy the fun that the theme park brings to you.
Guilin Merry-land Golf Club
It is the largest golf club in the area. And it is also the only one in China with 18 holes foothill course of international standard. Following American USGA regulation, Merry-land golf course has a golf path of 7073 yard and 72 par. It is specially designed by American designer, Golden Louise. It is a multi-functional golf course including sports, entertainment, traveling and business meeting. The main facilities of Golf restaurant are Chinese restaurant, VIP room, cafe and two food shops. Chinese restaurant lies in the second floor, which can hold 80 people.
Longsheng
Longji Rice Terrace
The Longji (Dragon Backbone) Terraced Rice Field is located in the Longsheng County, 106km northeast to Guilin city. After a 2 hours drive over a few mountains and 30 minutes' hiking you will get to the top of the "Dragon Backbone". Locals began to cultivate the rice fields from the very top of 1000-meter high-mountain to the foot more than 800 years ago! It is also a place of Zhuang, Yao, Miao and Dong minorities, so that you may see traditional minority wooden villages standing on the slope of the mountain as well as fantastic terraced rice fields. Sanjiang
With a population of 341,800 and covering an area of 2,500 square kilometers, Sanjiang Dong Autonomous County, bordering with Hunan Province and Guizhou province, lies in the north of Guangxi. The local Dong Nationality has a population of 187,000, which takes up 55.4% of the total population. As a remote ethnic area, Sanjiang is a commercially underdeveloped but pretty area with less industrial exploring but large quantity of traditional architecture heritage and cultural resources. Because of the difficulty of accessibility, Sanjiang has not been much influenced by the so-called modern culture or development from outside and still maintains their festivals, housing style and their way of life. Black tile roofed wooden “Wind and Rain Bridge”, slowly turning waterwheels in patched rice fields, spade shouldering farmers walking behind water-buffalos and the nearby wooden villages are the typical picture in this area. The 3 hotel accommodation here is relatively basic but comfortable.
Chengyang Bridge
Protected directly under nation and about 40 minutes drive from Sanjiang County, Chengyang Bridge area is a naturally developed ethnic living area of Dong Nationality. With beautiful country view and unique ethnic culture and architecture, this area has become a perfect sample place where you are able to walk into the ethnic Dong area to appreciate the Wind and Rain Bridge, opera stage, drum tower and villages.
